Emetophilia, the pharaphilia, or sexual arousal, that one gets from participating in a Roman Shower, is commonly thought to have come from the Romans. In Ancient Rome, there were vomitoria found in theaters and stadiums. These were passages below or behind the seats in an amphitheater to allow for easier exiting after performances.
So how did that turn into what we now call Roman showers? There's a tale that Julius Caesar escaped an assassination when he went to his bedroom to vomit instead of going to the latrine. However the term vomitorium does not appear until nearly 400 years after Caesar.
